"Either I win, or I learn!" Best mindset of the greatest chess-players
My students ALL see tremendous growth in their chess skills (usually several hundred rating points in strength in a few months!), and many go on to competitive success at tournaments. While I put together challenging courses in order for my students to develop maximum skills for competitive tournaments, I keep the focus on having fun. I create individually tailored course planning for every student, and assign homework to hone in crucial concepts and keep skills sharp. For remote lessons I charge $45 per lesson through Venmo, and conduct the lessons through a combination of Zoom and chess.com.
I have worked with hundreds of children and adults in chess instruction, from the 4H, afterschool programs, personal instruction, and as a merit badge counselor for the Boy Scouts of America, and live chess camps. I served as a Board member of the Colorado Chess Association and BYU Chess club president for a number of years. My peak USCF rating was around 2000. All that said, I LOVE teaching chess! Seeing my students develop skills to succeed in chess is what I’m passionate about.
