Needing to win to help his team get into the USCL Playoffs, GM Khachiyan plays a pet line in the Alekhine-Chatard Attack. Even though Black gets the first open file in an opposite-sides castling position, it is White who obtains more coordinated pieces and space. Khachiyan had just lost to GM Kraai the week before, but today he gets his revenge and pushes the L.A. Vibe into the playoffs.
