It has traditionally been asserted that modern chess began with Paul Morphy, the young New Orleans master who took the chess world by storm in 1857.  Although we only have a few hundred of his games recorded, his impact on the world of chess was immense.  Featuring opening gambits, positional build-up, and brilliant tactical finishes, Morphy's games teach us an exciting yet practical approach about how to play.
