Who Is A Woman FIDE Master?
The woman FIDE master (abbreviated as WFM) is one of the official titles given by the International Chess Federation (FIDE) exclusively to women chess players. It is the third-highest ranking exclusive to women after the woman grandmaster and the woman international master titles. Like other official FIDE titles, once a player is awarded the WFM title, it is held for life.
Woman FIDE masters are skilled players who perform at a very high level. You can watch them play live using Chess.com's streamers page or by going to Live Chess and clicking the Events option.
They also play in many strong tournaments, including online competitions like Titled Tuesday and other special events. In March 2020, two popular WFM streamers, Alexandra Botez and Anna Cramling, played in the Femme Batale event on Chess.com to raise money for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.
How Do You Attain A Woman FIDE Master Title?
As the name implies, the WFM title is only attainable by women players. They can obtain it by achieving a FIDE classical rating of at least 2100. They must also have played at least 30 rated games to earn the title.
