I played in tournaments back in the mid 70's and late 80's, and I have just discovered online chess. I think it's much easier to learn and improve in chess today because of web sites like chess.com and tutorials on YouTube. Maybe that's why lower rated players seem so much stronger than how I remember them. And, as with all of us, the big difference between me and top rated players is the quality of my blunders. My goal is to learn to play games free of mistakes and blunders. And for people who care about such trivia, I am retired, a widower, I have bachelor degrees in studio art and Spanish, and I play a mean guitar.
