To me chess is the battlefield where both opponents emerge as victors. There is no bloodshed yet there is the elimination of the opponent's forces. One who leaves as the victor (win or lose) does not have the karma of death and the opponent may live to face another day. The victor (win or lose) must learn humility or risk never learning the subtle inner teachings of strategy and tactics from others. Lack of humility is lack of growth and all have lessons to teach. Humility learns in the face of loss or gain.
