GM Vincent Keymer

Vincent Keymer is a German grandmaster, the youngest player from Germany to earn the title, and one of the best players in the world. By 2015, when not yet even a teenager, he was already being hailed as Germany's greatest chess talent since Emanuel Lasker.

At the 2018 Grenke Open, the 13-year-old prodigy won the event ahead of 49 GMs (including four rated 2700+) with an 8/9 score, which secured his first GM norm and shocked the chess world. Keymer’s performance rating of 2798 was the highest in history by an under-14 player. 

By 2020, he had officially earned the grandmaster title. He then crossed a 2600 rating in August 2021 and the 2700 "super grandmaster" threshold in October 2022. In December of that year, he finished second at the World Rapid Championship behind only GM Magnus Carlsen. The next year, Keymer nearly eliminated Carlsen from the 2023 World Cup in the fourth round, winning their first game, but not the match.

Keymer's overall World Cup performance placed him in the top 30 in the world rankings for the first time. In January 2024, he climbed to 12th in the world, and first among players 20 and younger.

Keymer won Division II of the 2024 Chessable Masters, the first event of the 2024 Champions Chess Tour.
