I live in Southeast Michigan (also known as the Downriver) about half way between Toledo & Detroit. I'm 38 and learned to play chess in High School. I started taking it seriously when an older friend of mine kept beating me. I ran out and bought GM Sierawan's awesome beginners series of books and pretty soon that friend of mine didn't want to play anymore. That was over 15 years ago. I have 17 total USCF games under my belt so tournaments have been more of a luxury than anything. I want to compete more but work, kids, wives, etc. make that difficult.
