Richard Rapport Wins Sigeman & Co.
17 year-old Richard Rapport of Hungary won the 21st Annual Sigeman & Co tournament in Malmo on superior tie-breaks from rivals Nigel Short and Nils Grandelius.
All three players finished on 4½/7 points, but Rapport won because the first tie-break was the results between the tied players, and Rapport had beaten Short and tied with Grandelius (Short and Grandelius drew).
