Richard Rapport Wins The Neckar Open

phpHfluAd.jpegThe 2013 Neckar Open took place fromĀ  28 March -1 April in Deizisau, Germany. The main tournament was a 9 round Swiss Open with well over 300 players taking part.

The result was extremely close, finishing on a huge tie with 13 players scoring 7/9. It was the young Hungarian GM Richard Rapport (pictured below) who emerged from the mathematical calculations with the best score to take first place.

French GM Etienne Bacrot and Ukrainian GM Yuri Solodovnichenko finished second and third respectively. Top seed Arkadij Naiditsch was fourth.

The time control was 40 moves in 2 hours, followed by 30 minutes to finish. The official website with more information is here.
