Norway Chess 2013 Round 1
The first round of the inaugural Norway Chess 2013 tournament didn't disappoint eager chess fans watching the excellent online coverage from around the world.
The winner of the blitz tournament Sergey Karjakin continued where he left off, making the most of the white pieces to beat Teimour Radjabov.
Hikaru Nakamura also made a good start to his Nordic campaign with a nice win against the Chinese GM Wang Hao. First to finish was the game between Vishy Anand and Lev Aronian, which was an evenly matched draw. Magnus Carlsen tested Veselin Topalov's endgame technique, but the Bulgarian never really looked in danger, and the game was drawn after 51 moves.
In the last game to finish tournament underdog Jon Ludvig Hammer was eventually ground down by Peter Svidler for the third decisive game of the day.
