Mateusz Bartel Wins Polish Championship
The 2012 Polish Chess Championships were held from 18-26 February in Warsaw.
Grandmasters Mateusz Bartel and Bartlomiej Macieja both finished the 9-round Swiss event with a score of 7 points, but Bartel (pictured) won his third consecutive national title on superior tie-breaks after a tie-break playoff.
Bartel is in fine form, having also won the recently completed Aeroflot Open in Moscow.
In the Polish Women's championship, IM Iweta Rajlich took the title with 6/9 in a 10-player round-robin event.
