Golden Globes For The Queen's Gambit
The Netflix series The Queen's Gambit has won the Golden Globe for best miniseries or television film. Anya Taylor-Joy, who played the main character Beth Harmon, also won the Golden Globe for best actress in a miniseries or television film.
On November 23, 2020, a month after the release of The Queen's Gambit, Netflix announced that the series had been watched by 62 million households as the most-watched scripted miniseries. With such a startling audience viewership, the series has now clinched its first major prizes with a Golden Globe for the series overall and one for Taylor-Joy.
The overall prize was won in the category Best Television Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television. The other nominees were Normal People, Small Axe, The Undoing, and Unorthodox. Another fan favorite, The Crown, won in a different category: that of best television series (drama).

Taylor-Joy won Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture Made for Television. She competed with Cate Blanchett (Mrs. America), Daisy Edgar-Jones (Normal People), Shira Haas (Unorthodox), and Nicole Kidman (The Undoing).
"I love chess! I've had to pick up new skills for the movies that I've been doing, so I'm looking forward to having some time off so I can get back to chess," Taylor-Joy said in an interview after winning the award.
Presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association since 1943, Golden Globes are among the most prestigious prizes to win in the entertainment industry. They are considered second in importance only to Academy Awards (for film) and to Emmy Awards (for television).
