GM Akobian to participate in 2007 ACA US Open

Grandmaster Varuzhan Akobian, three time World Open Champion, has committed to participating in the upcoming 2007 ACA 150th anniversary US Open (details can be seen under events @ chess.com !) to be held in Mesquite, Nevada September 1-3,2007. As of this press release, August 9, there were 330 pre-entries representing 12 different States as well as foreign countries. GM Akobian will be representing Armenia he says as he is still officially a citizen of that country. As previously noted here in a prior press release, GM Larry Evans has signed on as the official games commentator of the event.
