When Two Worlds Collide: Clash Joins Chess.com For Month Of Strategy Battles
Raids, counter-raids and lots of loot: that’s what fans of Chess.com, Clash of Clans and Clash Royale can look forward to in September as two giant gaming empires get together for a month of cross-platform battles.
Chess.com and Supercell, the makers of Clash, are putting on a series of events to merge their two huge communities. From September 1 to September 30, you can experience new ways to enjoy chess and Clash, including:
- New Clash bots to play against on Chess.com
- A magical new Clash-inspired chess variant called Spell Chess
- A 16-player creator event called Chess Clash
- Three weekly Clash Royale vs Clash of Clans Arenas
- Two new clubs for Clash fans to join: are you Barbarian or King?
The month-long linkup will kick off on September 1 and Chess.com users will start seeing changes straight away. New Clash bots will be available to play, including Goblin, Barbarian, and Hog Rider.
Chess.com will also launch a magical new Clash-inspired chess variant called Spell Chess where you cast spells in your games like “Jump” and “Freeze” to bewitch your opponents. Find out exactly what Spell Chess is here:
The first Spell Chess Arena will be held on September 8—giving you a week to practice. Join up here for the tournament where everyone will be a beginner! It will be carnage.
On Chess.com, we've also created two new clubs based on Clash characters. You can join King's Clash Royale Club or Barbarian's Clash of Clans Club and play in their team for the rest of the month.
The first official event of the linkup will start at 2 p.m. ET/20:00 CEST on September 7 with Chess Clash, the 16-player creator event already announced involving both Clash and chess creators. Among the names lined up to take part in the star-studded event are GothamChess himself IM Levy Rozman, WFM Alexandra Botez and Clash creators Clash With Ash and IamCristinini.
Three two-hour weekly Clash Royale vs Clash of Clans Arenas will follow on September 15, 22 and 29 where the two clans get to test out their skills in blitz, bullet and Spell Chess.
Prizes, new features, new Clash character bots available to play, and exclusive flairs will also be available to fans of Clash and Chess.com who take part throughout the month.
It’s time to sharpen those chess and Clash skills for the first big event on September 7, Chess Clash. Whose side will you be on?
