Beijing To Host 5th 2012/13 Grand Prix
At the closing ceremony of the Thessaloniki Grand Prix, FIDE President Kirsan Illyumzhinov announced that Beijing would host the fifth Grand Prix of the 2012/13 series from 3-17 July.
The overall winner and runner-up of the 2012/13 Grand Prix series qualify for the next Candidates Tournament, due in March 2014. The first four events were held in London, Tashkent, Zug and the recently completed Thessaloniki.
Each tournament is a single round-robin featuring 12 of the players in the Grand Prix, and each player competes in four of the six events. The best 3 scores of each player count towards their overall score. The official regulations can be found here.
