Palo Alto, Calif., May 1, 2021—Chess.com is excited to announce Arena Kings Season 7 starting on May 12 with more than $40,000 in prizes.
The season will run weekly on Wednesdays from May 12 through August 4 and feature a total prize fund of over $40,000. This is more than twice the prize fund of any prior Arena Kings season.
Two-hour arenas will take place on Wednesdays starting at 10 am PT/19:00 CEST. All arenas will be broadcast live on Chess.com/TV.
Every arena will be played with the popular 3|0 time control. Each week, the top 16 streamers will advance to a knockout bracket which will immediately follow the arenas conclusion. As in earlier seasons, the event will also feature two Chess960 (Fischer Random) arenas on June 9 and July 7.
Arena Kings is open to all Chess.com members and is a fantastic opportunity for fans to have a chance to play with their favorite streamers. While Arena Kings is open to all, only streamers will be eligible for the $40,000 in prizes.
Previous Arena Kings seasons have regularly featured the largest chess streamers such as GMs Hikaru Nakamura, Eric Hansen, Aman Hambleton, Daniel Naroditsky, Jose Martinez, Olexandr Bortnyk, IM Levy Rozman, WGM Qiyu Zhou, and many more. With a doubled prize fund, Chess.com anticipates season seven to feature record-breaking participation.
Arena Kings Season 7 will culminate in the Championship Final, with $10,000 in prizes dedicated to the finals online. Players will be invited to the Championship Final based on their success in the regular season.
