What is the Daily Chess Championship?
The Daily Chess Championship is one of Chess.com's most popular events. After the 2023 tournament set a record with more than 35,000 participants, the 2024 championship blew that number out of the water with over 63,000 players. How many players will 2025 feature... and will you join them?
This tournament is a rare opportunity for you to compete against tens of thousands of other members, including titled players. Sharpen your skills, showcase your tactics and calculation—and maybe even win prizes! Plus, with access to the opening database and an analysis board, you can play out your ideas before making the move, and you can watch your accuracy scores soar! Most of all, it's one of the most accessible and fun chess tournaments in the world. One move per game per day, and the world could be yours.
Format
- Daily time control (one day per move).
- Participants play 22 games at once in 12-player sections (one as Black, one as White per opponent).
- Only the section winner(s) advance to the next round.
- It's expected that the tournament will go on for the majority of 2025, ending late in the year or early in 2026.
- Fair play analysis will take place, with all section winners subject to careful review.
Prizes
The winner of the tournament will receive an exclusive trophy on their Chess.com profile. All players, however, can also receive cash prizes for their participation in the tournament: prizes are given out every round for the best video analysis, blogs, moves, and games throughout the event.
