2009 Shell National Youth Active Chess Championship

The 2009 Shell National Youth Active Chess Championship start next weekend, when the National Capital Region, the first leg of the eight stage nation wide series unfolds June 20,2009 at the Mall of Asia in Pasay City,Philippines. The two day event ending June 21,will feature the juniors for players 20-years-old and below,and the kiddies,exclusively for players 14-years-old and below.A tight battle among veterans 11-years old Melwyn Kenneth Baltazar(Master Kenneth here at chess.com),the 2006 Asean Age group Rapid bronze medallist ,11-years old Jerad Docena, the 2007 Asean Age group silver medallist and 14-years old Christian Flores, 2005 Asean Age group silver medallist is expected,to grab a ticket to the national finals of the annual event that has produced the liked of GM Wesley So,GM Mark Paragua,GM Nelson Mariano II,GM Darwin Laylo and newly conferred GM John Paul Gomez.
