1st Metropolitan Chess FIDE Invitational Midway Report
The first weekend of games from the Metropolitan FIDE Invitational are complete. The tournament is being organized by Metropolitan Chess inside the California Market Center in downtown Los Angeles, and is being sponsored by www.chess.com, LawyerFy, Fashion Business, Inc, Betty Bottom, and Hippie Chips.

IM Zhanibek Amanov has taken a huge lead at the mid-way point with a score of 4.5 out of 5.0 and a very respectable tournament performance of 2691 FIDE. Out of the norm contenders, SM Roman Yankovsky sits comfortably with 3.5 out of 5.0 and a tournament performance of 2515 FIDE. He needs 2.5 out of the remaining 4.0 matches to secure an IM norm.
