I almost never played chess as a kid. My only experience was playing against my best friend, who taught me the rules and then crushed me soundly time after time. Then several years ago I picked up a couple of computer chess programs, but I didn't put any real study into how to improve.
I believe it is important to keep one's mind active the older we get, so I've recently picked it up again and have decided to master it best I can (at age 45). I do love to play, especially when the game is going in my favor, of course.
Chess.com has been a great help to me. I don't live near a town that has a chess club, so opportunities to play locally are limited. I believe chess.com is the best chess website out there.
Drop me a line anytime. I'm open to play anyone.
