Hi all, I am Magesh from India, I live in Apex, North Carolina. I became a GM in 2005 by tying for first place in the World Open in Philadelphia. I completed my Bachelors and Masters degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Dallas.

I accidentally started playing chess when I was about 7. Just picked up the game from my brother and my parents. I am ever grateful for fate or whatever people would call it to introduce me to this mind boggling game that imitates life in every way possible. Playing chess has made me who I am today. I believe in developing one's character more than the craving for success and I believe it is a sport that can teach the right ingredients for that.

I am not only a chess player, but also a chess teacher. I have been teaching for more than 8 years now. I am blessed to have a job that lets me impart knowledge to young children, not to mention the pleasure I derive working with those cute little munchkins! My students range from complete beginners all the way to experts and FIDE masters. Several of my students are ranked top in the country among their age group, hopefully I am doing something right :) I do online classes as well. If you are interested in online chess lessons, send me a message and I will get in touch with you.

I would like to highlight some of my credentials here,

Winner of World Open(two way tie), Philadelphia 2005

Winner of UTD Invitational Chess tournament, Dallas 2005

Winner of Badalona Open, Spain 2004 & 201
