Bolton Chess Club
Bolton Chess Club meet at the Victoria Hall, Knowsley Street, Bolton BL1 2AS , on Mondays from 7:30pm. Players of all abilities are invited to join us. Junior players are especially welcome as the club runs coaching sessions for novice players. Several of our members have " positive CRB clearance".
Bolton Chess club runs 4 teams in the Manchester League and 2 adult and 2 junior teams in the Bolton League.
There is a long tradition of chess in Bolton and 2 International Grand Masters and one International Master started at our club. Bolton first won the Manchester League in 1893-94 and the Reyner Shield in 1896-97 seasons. We are the only club to win this knockout trophy in the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries.
We run 2 Chess Congresses each year and hold talks during the summer close season.
