I'm a UCF graduate. I was in college forever, and I finally finished. I studied Accounting, which seemed to be a very practical route. I'm pretty good at it, so it was worth the time it took figure out this is what I should be doing. Now I work as a Tax Accountant at a national CPA firm.
I'm not so hot at OTB chess, but I love correspondence. I've been playing pretty seriously on and off since 2002. I recently took a break from chess (when work gets crazy I tend to do that). It's been taking me a while to get into the groove and remember all the things I've forgotten, but I'm getting there.
In addition to chess, I love Star Trek, Star Wars, Doctor Who, Spaced, Simon Pegg (Nick Frost & Edgar Wright), Ricky Gervais, Bill Hicks, MST3K, Arsenal (go gunners), Orlando City Soccer Club, etc.
I'll leave you with a quote from one of my heroes:
"The Game of Chess is not merely an idle amusement; several very valuable qualities of the mind, useful in the course of human life, are to be acquired and strengthened by it, so as to become habits ready on all occasions, for life is a kind of Chess, in which we have often points to gain, and competitors or adversaries to contend with, and in which there is a vast variety of good and ill events that are, in some degree, the effect of prudence, or the want of it."
~Ben Franklin, The Morals of Chess
