Hello fellow chess enthusiasts! My name is Luiz. I spent 5 years in the Navy working mainly as a Helicopter Mechanic and Flight line Supervisor. I was stationed in San Diego and have been on multiple deployments to the Middle East onboard Aircraft Carrier USS Ronald Reagan. I returned to chess towards the end of my enlistment in July of 2013 after taking 8 years off. I enjoy playing here and over the board. I have been a professional scholastic coach in the Bay Area since 2017. I am currently offering instruction both in person and online via Zoom. I enjoy helping students find their specific areas of strength and weakness mainly through game analysis. I also emphasize improving through the study of tactics and calculation and studying positional themes as you climb the rating ladder. Thanks! and enjoy learning Chess.
