I see you got in quick there, a very valid suggestion. A no rating-limit would seem more fitting perhaps BUT as it happens Brazil can only guarantee a team with a 3400 maximum. So I quite unashamedly matched the ratings to fit our team.
I believe there is a definate 'gap in the market' for an international doubles chess competion. Although 4, and even 8 player teams, are also good suggestions, I am going to stick with the original plan for this tournament to ensure that it is manageable.
Anymore news about the tournament? Who has put themselves forward? What countries are going to be represented in the tournament? Just looking for some news so that I can post some more on our group's blog.
You set an limit of max 3400 rating per team to match your team ???. Not sure why you do this ... Just my 50 cents...

Simple. So that once I have organized this event I still get to play and have a chance of winning. If you look at our ratings (approx. 1550 - 1650) we are already being kind (and also giving ourselves room to grow before it all kicks off)
Ok teams, you will have time to get in some last minute warm up matches before this historic event takes place.
The official opening for the cyber-cup will be postponed untill I can afford to subscribe to chess.com and play more than one tournament at a time. Which will be fairly shortly after payday (5th Sept) if all goes well....
Remember this one is for your country!!
Hello National Group Leaders,
I sent you each a message privately but I realize it will be a good idea to set up a forum as a temporary hub for the The First World Cup Mixed Doubles Event 2008.
Good luck to all entrants!
Further posts will provide additional information as it comes.
All the best,
from Mancamber
