... I responded that it was to kick out anyone who cheats.
Unless there was a change in the authority allowed to tournament directors you cannot do this yourself. You have to report the player and ask for removal.
A tournament director can remove a player prior to the start but not once the player has active games. Perhaps a tournament director who has removed a player with active games will correct me.
In a multi-round tournament there will be times where a player waiting for the next round does not have active games. Perhaps a tournament director who has tried to remove such a player can advise what happened.
Once the tournament starts all a tournament director can do is post announcements. I haven't tried cancelling a tournament.
As for suggestions.
- Increase the default minimum 5 games played to a number where you think players are committed to staying on the site. Maybe 50 games played. Helps to decrease the timeouts.
- Always change the Player Move Speed option from "All players" to something else so only the more active players can enter. 50 games played means a player's time/move average is more reliable.
- Restrict 1 day/move tournaments to premium players to reduce timeouts. Player Move Speed should be Very Fast to reduce use of Auto-timeout protection.
I've recently started my first tournament, and it's went well. But one of the players asked me in-game what my role as TD is. I responded that it was to kick out anyone who cheats. I feel like I should be doing more. Any suggestions on how I could make myself a good tournament director?
