Active games for removed accounts

Just had a confusing few moments trying to understand what happened to a tournament game I was playing.  At first, it looked as though the game had reset itself, until I realized that the board had flipped as well.  Long story short:  for whatever reason, my opponent's account was removed, which seems to have resulted in resignations for all of that account's active tourney games (which makes sense).

The trouble is that the next game for that account started immediately, so I guess I'll just have to wait for that one to time out (?).  If an account is removed, it might be handy to withdraw that player from multi-round tournaments in addition to auto-resigning their current games.  (I'm making some assumptions here about what is actually happening, so I may be confused on some of the details.)
