Time on chess is always a problem in that some like to play real fast and others want time to think, so what is the solution? My take on this is that a site should be set up offering different time limits. Obviously the shorter the time limit the faster is the game. However, in my opinion being an avid player find that a game well thought out is more fun than racking through the game quickly compromises the ability to ponder some when in a tight situation. My view is five minutes max, but then many don't like even that. So, for the net, I would vote for three minutes, but then, it is a tough issue as many like to play real fast. I feel the essence of this game is thinking, and time makes the game more dramatic. I like to now that my opponent takes my moves seriously. So, how about setting up a voting message to all players to vote for various limits so we can settle this to at least suffice for the majority of players. Thanks for reading, I am Duane a chess nut.....just don't crack me.
Maximum time limit per move
In my entire chess history not a single opponent has ever taken more than 1.5 or 2 mins for a move, unless they were stalling the whole game out just to annoy you. Hence, yes there should, and must be a time limit per move to stop people from stalling and ruining the game.
Also, if people take too much time on a single move, they won't have much time left for the rest of the moves, which is why it makes even more sense to add a limit, which will prevent people from running out of time.
I've suggested this multiple times to chess.com but they don't add it on purpose despite the stupendously obvious benefits it brings. They don't care about their users so not worth expecting anything from them.
Would it be possible to have, for example, a 2 minute time limit on moves within a 15 minute game? I like playing 10/15 but people often stop playing early on. So either I have to resign and lose points for what should have been a win, or I wait over 10 mins for the time-out.
