i have a similar problem. i installed a theme from the chess.com library and now i can't edit it. meanwhile i can't read some of the icon/text unless i pass the cursor over it.
how do you edit a theme?

Sort:
Point your cursor top right where it says 'Home', on that drop down box choose 'Account'.
When that page opens, choose Styles & Themes
http://www.chess.com/home/themes
Top left then shows you which theme you are currently using.
Top of the themes list shows 'using | copy'
If you click on 'Copy' you can them get a copy of the other persons theme you're using and edit as you wish :)

I understand that I am nitpicking, and the issue I have has probably already been said. But just in case it hasn't, here it goes...
There are 2 instances that cannot be changed. One I am ok with even though it would be nice to change. The "notes" on your homepage, the background cannot be changed. That offwhite looking stuff doesn't bother me too much though. It also appears in certain pages where there are links boxes to other services on the site.
The other problem I have is just annoying as can be, but only because it doesn't appear often and is to small to make me change my theme back to remedy. I have my background set to #333333 which just so happens to be the color of a certain text on the site that cannot be changed, but doesn't appear often. On my status where it says how long ago I posted "(2 years ago)"... Yea, that text...
I'm sorry... Lol. I know it's nitpicking, but I like custom themes. I understand the theme editor has been the same from the start. I remember having the same problems years ago when I first joined. But I just wondered if someone could humor me and maybe update? It's not a big deal if you don't.
Anyways, Tr4mpldundrfooT's Broken Theme is what I am using. You will see my anger if you try it out.
