Cheating can help you get a higher rating, but it doesn't help you learn to play better when playing on your own. That only happens when you play on your own and are forced to come up with your own moves, make mistakes, and learn from them.

This post is a legitimate thank you to the site and the people who work at this site! A while ago, before I made this account I had another, I played on it, reched 1500 legitametly and then hit a hard ceiling. This made me mad and I was stuck for a while. On that old account I ended up using an engine to cheat. I know that is deplorable and I did it when I got into losing positions to reach 1700. I, of course, ended up being banned but was allowed by the team to make a new account as long as I promised to never cheat again. It hurt, I know I was in the wrong but it still stung. I ended up thanking them for the mercy and made this account. Today I reached 1700 by playing legitametly and I have to say that it feels amazing! I would never be this good or this happy if the team never banned my account.
Thank you Chess.com, for allowing me to make this new account, giving me a second chance and allowing me to, in simple terms, git gud.
