I am a father of three amazing daughters. my two oldest have shown an interest in playing chess. i have taught them the basics as well as i can and have had surprising success with my sixyear old. she grasps many concepts i didnt think she could at her age. while not as advanced, my nine year old is constantly improving and slowly gaining ground on the six year old. Last week i had some company over and they had an older son with them. i listened quietly from the other room as my middle daughter asked the boy if he wanted to play chess. he explained that he didnt know how. i continued to listen in amazement as she explained in about ten minutes what took me hours to tell her, and next thing i know they are playing a "mock" game, as she called it. after the game she whispered in my ear "I took his rooks early, hehe". maybe i am doing something right but i am always looking for better strategies to advance her learning. i believe she has a talent for the game.

We do have a site aimed at parents/kids  coaches/kids for kids that are aged 6 -13.

www.chesskid.com

The parent creates their own account, then the account of the child using the exact same email address. This then allows the parent full access to the childs account. This permits the parent to monitor game play, tactics trainer scores and progress, who is on their friends list, any posts they make in clubs.

One of the main differences with chesskid site is that it is safe for kids. Although we have live chess there, the chat is disabled for everyone unless its a game between two people on friends list. The same applies to online games. Chat is only usable to those on friends lists.

There is also Tactics Trainer and videos on ChessKid to help in their learning aswell as a ChessKid.com curriculum created by IM's Pruess and Rensch suitable for both classroom and one to one instruction so you and your kids can learn together.

If you want to take a look at the ChessKid site and think it may be of help in their learning, and have questions please let me know, I'll be happy to help.
