I have a 7 year old kid, who knows the chess moves  and can play the game.  Can someone advise  a good software for her to improve her chess skills.

Thanks

Chess Mentor on this site is great (and cheap in the long run). Also if you want to stay involved with there development it will give you a lot of information on where his/her strengths and weakness are.

Learn to Play Chess with Fritz and Chesster costs more than Chessmaster, but is a better value for the money.

chessmaster102

can you show me how to download it.

Chessmaster Grandmaster Edition is a great learning tool for the basics of chess, and also for more advanced strategies of chess thanks to the video lessons.

Whoa..People keep in mind this is for a seven year old!  lol  Fritz/ Chess Mentor may be a bit much.  Want to make sure the interest stays there first then I would buy something else.  I would recommend Chessimo.  It has a fun interface and teaches patterns so you won't have to learn a bunch of theory.  I am not an advocate for shortcuts... but I must say that this software is quite effective.  You can download a trial verision.
