I read that Kasparov has a photographic memory and that he remembers every move of every game he ever played (Every telephone number he ever dialled as well) Bobby Fischer was reported to be the same.
Is this what it takes to make it to the very top in chess? Is it possible to estimate a childs chess potential from an early age?
A gifted chess kid would have no problem winning a kid section tournament. Beating his dad, uncles and grandpa is not an indicator. Unless they are strong players.
