Because I thought the wokeness / activisim of the book was cringy and that it's cringiness outweighed any entertainment value that it would have had?  or because subjectivity is not an indicator of stupidity,  according to you?  /popscorn

did you watch queens gambit all the way through

THECHESSMAN_78

Probably better than reading 1984

what's in 1984?

10 years old is 5th grade, right? i wonder if they still teach orwell in school. at the 5th grade level, 'animal farm' might be better suited that '1984.' anyway, orwell rocks. he was a genius!

sharing a political view is the entire point of studying orwell. only the yelling would not be coming from the right, it would be coming from the left. nearly every piece of orwell's work was satire. you seem like a very sharp young man! good luck to you!

I'll be sure to read some Orwell then.

I was never required by my school to read 1984. I chose to because it was one of those books everyone tells you to read.

If you want to read a book for a dystrophia unit, I would highly recommend "Divergent" and (even though I didn't read it) "Hunger Games". At least they have a series which means there is a happier ending

1984 was written in 1948 with a different title, but the editor changed the title to "1984" suggesting a then distant future.

It is curious that nowadays with cameras everywhere and internet and phone monitoring, face recognition software we are where the novel said we would be.
