This is a beautiful variation of "laskers ladder" who composed this??

LogoCzar

I'm not sure.

My friend xisco949 showed this to me.

does it really matter? anyway white is damm won ;).You do not know whether you can 0-0-0 or not

LogoCzar

Of course it matters.

The goal of this puzzle is not only checkmate, but to checkmate in 8 moves.

LogoCzar

You can know if you can 0-0-0 because there is no other possible solution.

Do you know anything about Laskers Ladder?

Dude,I dont need to know about it.These studies are just for fun.Black has naked king to white's army.I can sac all my pawns and even win with the rook.Give me a composition where there are actually any pieces for black except a naked king and you know my point, you actually gain something from solving those

There's a convention that says you can assume that a player can castle, unless you can prove that they can't. En passant works the opposite way: it's not permitted unless you can prove the last move was the double hop

Mr Pain: every so often some players convince themselves that somehow chess only has value if it's directed towards winning games. If you played Magic the Gathering you might be aware of the player archetypes: Spike and Johnny. Spikes play to win while Johnnies play to realise interesting effects. The same is true in the chess world where FIDE awards GM and IM titles both for problem solving and problem composition.
