Too simple?

What is going on with the puzzles? My puzzle-rating is rising steadily - currently in the 1600s (I am a 1300-level player, at best), and I find them still painfully simple. I remember 'hitting the puzzle ceiling' a few years ago, because the puzzles were so complex that I failed as often as I solved.
Did they recently get dumbed-down to make us feel good about ourselves?

Your last batch of puzzles were well below your rating. If you continue seeing a majority of lower rated puzzles, then there might be and issue with the selection algorithm.

Puzzle ratings have been meaningless for a while. I've seen 3000+ rated puzzles be simple mate in 2... so yeah, the numbers mean nothing. Solve them for fun, or maybe to learn, but if you want to learn then maybe use a better source like a book or at least a different website.

There are a lot of good puzzles in the database. A really high rated mate in 2 often means higher rate solvers are missing them, likely by playing much too quickly. Some of the more problematic ones get removed from rotation when the get reported.

I know that my own success with puzzles varries hugely by how long I spend on them. I'm good enough that, if I give it enough time, I can figure out the answer to most. But when I'm less patient in checking everything, then my rating drops fast. (Also, there are days when I see combinations better or worse).

This probably also explains why I'm 600 points better at daily chess than I am at blitz. I think lots of people have much smaller gaps between time formats.
