My puzzle

Superplayer7472

This far, all the posted puzzles are orthodox chess puzzles (which means you are following the rules and ambitions of normal chess), so maybe it could be fun with less orthodox puzzles. I composed a ”duck chess puzzle”, meaning it’s a normal chess puzzle but it’s duck chess.

white to play and win
+ a duck on g8

If you didn’t know, the duck works like this: After one’s ordinary piece move, they must move the duck. The duck just sits there and blocks a square or a diagonal/file.

Can someone try to solve it?

The puzzle was in the comment above. And, here it is again:

+ a duck on g8

There is only one way to win, and that way includes promoting the pawn. The question is, how to make it happen?

Just trash and wrong, @scopegranites and @vividkreations. We don't need any ChatGPT trash talk.

Does someone want to solve my duck puzzle?

I expected something a bit more advanced.

For the duck one - ( @.. means duck at )
Kh8@h7. Ke5@g7
h7@f6. Ke6@g7
Kg8@h8. Kf6@g7
h8/Q+@a1
Now K+Q vs K is easy win in even duck chess

Well done, @SuryaVS! But did you consider black's try 2... Ke5@f6?

As you can see, you always have to be careful so you don't get stalemated!tongue

what

Do you talk about the duck puzzle? If you didn't understand it, it's fine. Those duck moves were nessecary for the pawn to promote.

I have composed a new puzzle today.

white to play and win

Resourceful attacking and defensive play by both sides make this puzzle pretty nice!

@Superplayer7472 for the duck one, I think there is small error as you have to capture the king to win, after the mistake h7@say a1, Kf6@g8 wins for black as white has to do Kg7 next move and black can capture the white king next move! Also this is what I think, I am not sure if K can touch K in duck chess

Ok, I didn't know that you have to capture the opponent's king to win in duck chess. I thought that it was just normal chess except for the duck. I have now fixed the duck puzzle instuctor.

Here's a simple chess puzzle.

That puzzle was the worst I've ever seen, for several reasons:
1. White had multiple solutions on almost every move. Breaks the rule of having exactly one solution.
2. The puzzle was very long and the solution included the totally irrelevant conversion.
3. The puzzle didn't demonstrate any idea, which makes it wothless.

Awaresi

Yeah I know, i made it very quickly.

Good puzzles are almost never composed quickly. If they are, they are almost never good.

Can you stop saying just "ok" and "what", please?!

I discovered that my puzzle with N+B/pawns had double solutions on move 6, other than 6.Ne4 white also had 6.Nh5! with the same purpose. The puzzle is most easily fixed by adding a black pawn on d5.
