Short answer:
try this

I was also thinking this. Puzzles are heavily geared toward checkmates imo and ones that aren't are opponent is in bad position that would have to already be playing great to reach.
I was hoping there was something like this: random position from opening or middle game where guess move and points from result. like:
+5 brilliant
+4 book/best
+3 great
+2 excellent
+1 good
+0 inaccuracy
-1 mistake
-2 missed win
-3 blunder
I haven't found this but lichess.org has an "Puzzles by openings" section.
Hey Fam,
I think it'd be great idea for chess.com to add an openings feature within the puzzles platform. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has thought of this. The puzzle can give the name of the opening (and variation) and start the puzzle from any move within the deeper line of theory. For example, not starting every puzzles from the first move, but have it randomised from move 2 then move 7 to 14 and so on.
I think this would be a good move for three reasons. Firstly, it will help us community become familiar with many opening variations. This will speed up the learning process for openings since the analysis board and openings explorer are slower. Secondly, I believe this feature alone will increase the profitability of chess.com. Practicing puzzles efficiently and productively with a simple subscription is a big draw for all members (retaining subscription members and drawing in non-sub members). Finally, there is also the future possibility of expanding the feature to opening drills for preselected positions. For example, I could select "black" against "d4" or "white" with "fianchetto" and do drills on those openings.
Just a thought, do you guys think this would be good? Any thoughts?
All the best!
