The feature has been on Android since early in 2023. I did 25,000+ puzzles in the months after it released, finishing the first go round.

Enjoying it so far but feeling a little guilty that no points are lost when I screw up. New to Chess.com so it took me a few days to get to 700 on the old version but this version only took a few hours so I guess it’s a new scoring system. Just as addictive so I guess it’s working…

I don’t know if I like it as much. I’ve been doing puzzles on and off since 2017 and my five free puzzles a day pretty consistently since 2020. I enjoyed watching my progression line on the rating chart. It was fun hitting new milestones for the ratings. My highest rating for puzzles was 2323, and my current rating was 2158. It was fun trying to get a new higher rating. Now with the new puzzles, I don’t know if I will enjoy the progress as much.

Why is there a guy at the the top of the screen now?

NH82

It's extremely annoying to have the guy's avatar telling me everything that's happening. It adds nothing and it's distracting. How do I turn it off?

I liked the progression of the old one. Felt like a standard was set and reached. Also you gotta punish for error or what is a rating at all. Not a fan honestly. Love the site though. Really do.

Some of the puzzles are in accurate most of the time there pretty good and they make me think of solutions, but there are other times when they say solutions but it is is a losing game. Just did one where it said solved but it’s not. I would lose my Queen there only in check there knight defends I lose a queen with no real advantage. Need to do betterb

You're most likely missing the reason. While there are some problem tactics, the vast majority are accurate.

Can you provide a link to the one you're referring to?

If it's this one, the knight is pinned and the solution is checkmate

You still get rated on the puzzles, it just doesn't show the rating progression.

You can turn it off and do normal rated puzzles without the path progression

That's not currently an option but a setting is coming to disable it

May we have access to both puzzle engines, please? Thus far I prefer the old one, agreeing with posts #4 through #8.

The puzzles being presented are the exact same with both methods. If you don't want the new one you can click the settings icon when in the feature and turn it off; for the Puzzle points/tiers feature.

Amadeus_L

The tier feature has been around for some time now and I find it okay. The problem is the new avatar guy, makes it look like a practice round, although it's rated and that guy is distracting. Imagine having this guy commentate every chess game you play... Also why would I not directly see my rating change? It's a rated puzzle in the end.

nougabolle

Make him disappear 🙏

I agree and prefer that to show as well.

Please elaborate on “If you don't want the new one you can click the settings icon when in the feature and turn it off; for the Puzzle points/tiers feature.”. After more usage of the new engine my preference would be to return to the old engine/rating method, especially the appearance of the “analysis” icon after my first error and the return to the old rating system. Thanks,

If you are on the puzzle point feature you click the settings icon at the top

Then toggle off the option Collect Puzzle Points

And save

If you're just getting the coach then an option to disable that should be available soon
