  • To create a chess puzzle: 1. Click the board icon in the post 2. Click "set up position" and set it up (make sure the right color is next to move) 3. Click "Moves" and make the right moves that the solver has to play in order to solve the puzzle 4. Under "Theme" check off "Puzzle" 5. Click the "Insert" button and you're set!

can beginners do this puzzle?

1. Rh7 Ke8 2. Ra1 Kd8 3. Ra8# is faster.

Illegal due to the invisible white king on h2.  Also 4...Kb4 delays.

In order to create a puzzle, simply click on the checkered-board icon directly above the reply box at the bottom of the page to bring up the "Insert Chess Game, Position, or Puzzle" screen. Click the "Setup Position" button to set up the position for your puzzle. Once you have done so, a series of drop-down menus will appear. In the drop-down box marked "White to move" within the "Setup Position" menu, select the side the player will be solving the puzzle with. From there, adjust the board position to your liking. After that, within the list of drop-down menus, select the bottom one marked "Theme", and check the "Puzzle" box at the bottom of the menu. From there, select the drop-down menu marked "Moves", and begin playing the moves that will solve your puzzle. The opponent's moves will be played automatically as the created puzzle is solved by the player. Once all of the moves needed to solve the puzzle have been played, select the "Insert" button at the bottom of the screen to insert your puzzle into your reply, based on where the cursor is located within the reply. From there, you can continue adding to your reply, and when finished, click the "Post" button to post your reply and puzzle.
