"Can a Checkmate be possible here?"
January 12, 2008
Hello neneko;
This is EXACTLY what I was faced with just TODAY... 1/12/2008... playing against Shifts. He made an AWFUL effort just trying to have me into a CHECKMATE... and thus win the game. I wrote this article in good faith with the intention of maybe being able to create a "Chess Puzzle" for everyone to ... maybe LEARN.
And NOT to belittle anyone else. I did tell him that with my KING and KNIGHT... I felt as slippery as "black ice" on a cold winter morning. Meaning... like you said, IF I made all the right MOVES.... i could possibly keep the game going "in perpetuity"... or FOREVER. After all, do YOU usually play up to eighty-one moves? Yourself? SOME effort must have been ongoing here.
And so, rightly, we concluded in a mutually accepted DRAW.
Thanks for your input.

as they said...a DRAW.
I played the game, did the moves, unless White do a mistake and lose the knight, or black lose the Rook, there is no way this game will end with a win!
side Note:
it is Sun, 13'Jan in my Country (UAE), 10:53am...

Actually if black lose the rook it's still a draw.
i'm afraid there is no program rated 2900 elo if you had a chess computer like Rebel or deep blue maybe but i think that there is theory that in certain positions this is a win for K+R.

Hello Manipulated;
Thanks for the input. You are RIGHT. That is why.. I kept my knight (whites) close to my king. Because after all, like I explained to shifts, my (white knight in shining armor) not really... DID protect my KING serving as an "umbrella" when the other black KING and ROOK tried to corner me into a mate.
Had I let the KNIGHT travel all over the board, I might have lost the game, because then, I would LOSE my "unbrella" of protection from my knight. I always knew this from my experience in playing CHESS. You never want your "protection" to stray away from you, and it won't be there when you then it.
By the way... Manipulated.. are you losing your game against LEGO? Or did I get it right? It's your move. Even if you used your knight to prevent a MATE, that BISHOP is there ..... to ruin your plans. Let me know.
And remember, give me one week of R & R and like I said before.. our game is ON.
Keep me posted.

Hello to all players;
If you FOLLOWED the game between Shifts and Slim 6744... Shifts had his KING plus ONE ROOK..... I of course had my KING plus ONE KNIGHT... And yet..... Shifts kept TRYING to have me in CHECKMATE to win this game.
Could he do it? What would you have done ... if you were in Shifts place? This game COULD constitute a CHESS puzzle.
So here's the PUZZLE.... Just go ahead and TRY to whip me into a CHECKMATE... using Shift's RESOURCES. ... Remember his KING plus ONE ROOK... against My KING plus ONE KNIGHT.
Go ahead and CHECKMATE me into SUBMISSION.... Fellows, write back and tell me your SOLUTION. Or go ahead and look at our END-GAME situation. We concluded this game with a mutually accepted DRAW. Would you agree? The date of CONCLUSION to this game is on 1/12/2008.. Check it out.
Even I don't know the SOLUTION to this PUZZLE.
Yours,
