You mean like a 0|30 time control? With 30 seconds added for each move? So that after 10 or so rapid moves at the start, each player would have a reserve of more than 4 minutes?

umm.. maybe he means like, 3 min per move with no additional time increments?   so each player would get 3min to move and the game would go on for as long as it takes... without time pressure?    kinda defeats the purpose of a "time control" but maybe keep a beginner's game moving along without the flag dropping?   i'am almost ready to play my first game on here and wondering what time control to use... i've never played on here before before and it seems most beginner games usually lose by time.  i mean, how will we ever get to an End-Game happy.png

Whatever you think you'll be comfortable with. Some time controls are a lot more popular than others.  10 0 is the most popular. ( 10 minutes with 0 seconds added after each move.) 15 10 (15 minutes with 10 seconds added increment) might work. You would know that you have at least 10 seconds to move in an endgame.

15|10 the best no doubt. But is there a way to play “classical chess” here? Where they have to reach 40 moves for time control?

No, there is no multipart time control.

There is a 45 45 control but it is better to use that only in a place like the Slow Chess League, where people have to demonstrate that they will complete games. It can be frustrating waiting a very long time unless you have confidence there is a real player on the other side.

in 30 mins chess is there a time limit to move a move?

The site has a first move timer and there's a max move time for the next 9 moves, up to half the base time control. Other than that, no.
