Let me get this straight, he would rather try and save a few points then go have that nooky with his beautiful girlfriend? Talk about wrong priorities hahaha If i was him i would just resign and say oh well get points back another time and go and enjoy time with beautiful gf....
the lengths people will go to,to save a game
i was just playing a game im winning easily and the guy suddenley asked for a draw,i refuse of course then he chats some stuff about his girlfriend is waiting for him so he needs to go and offers a draw,i refuse he blabs on some more and says he is going gets some nookey,i said just resign then,he said no my rating will drop,i said its going to any way as i am winning, then he cools me some silly names and says im pathetic,i really funny the lengths someone will go to save there rating.
If nooky with his girl was that important, he would have just resigned. He cooked that up because he was losing. Heck I have had a few players try to bribe me if i take a draw. The only time I did an unorthodox draw, was when a beginner blundered his queen in the first four moves. I really did not feel like embarrasing him any further so I accepted. A few rating points lost, big deal.

maybe he just prefers men?
So you're winning and he asks for a draw? This is extremely unethical. Was this a Live Chess game? Well anyway he should resign and not offer a draw like an idiot. That's his problem he's got his girlfriend waiting for whatever. Ok so report abuse for the s*** he said. End of story.
I might offer a draw right before resigning but insisting for you to offer it is going too far.
Yeah I know what you mean. If I am winning and someone offers me a draw, I always refuse politely a couple of times. If they keep on, or start to get ugly I just say " resign with dignity or lose with grace, because I am not accepting your draw under any circumstances. Whine all you like. oh.. by the way it's your move." Most resign and leave me with a few choice words, but oh well I really don't care what people like that think or say anyway. If they don't understand that the "offer draw" button is there for situations where both players reach an agreement that a draw is inevitable, and not for saving their precious rating...that's their problem!

Wayne, don't play anymore with such guy! He is aparently not a good sportman. It's very rude and selfish of asking the opponent for have a draw caz he is in losing posision, or the game is much too early for a Draw. I'v been playing for 961 games and NEVER asked any of my opponent for a Draw, mostly they over me for a Draw. I accepted a draw when our posision is totally stuck no other way that both would win and that we both are equal. We should be more concideratefull, sencitive when it comes to asking for a Draw. I often let my games roll all the way till one of us either won or lost, sometime It's fun to learn how to deal the real hard moment in our game though I know I am loosing but I like to continue and try harder, you never know our opponent can't handle our hard struggling to find a way to solve problem :)
How would it be if chess.com added some code to the OFFER DRAW button so that it looks at the state of the game? Then, if someone who is losing massively offers a draw, there could be a pop-up saying: "You gotta be kidding me, right?"
i wont play him again,i new what he was up to,he wanted save the game, his girlfriend wasnt there he was just scared to lose

OMG this is so funny! Erik, you should totally do this.

Maybe it could resign instead and maybe ban them for a week or two.

No, strong-arming people isn't good. Keep the humor and at least they will keep coming back...
People can learn etiquette, if you just help them.
wayne: its called psyche chess. I played at least 2 of these. a clear win for me yet asking for draw. i didn't know whether i should feel insulted or let him win just his audacity. i take all players as capable of will of the wisp brilliance at least once in their lifetime and this might have been it!
i found it funny lol,i new was playing silly buggers with me but i just ignored him and just saying resign or move as he wouldnt move

There were a number of suggestions that could be used as alternative pop-up texts in this other discussion Opponent is losing badly... and offers a draw?!
One of the most amusing was: "Did you mean the button just to right of that?"
omg this remeinds me of a game i have going on right now.
I have like 3 queens a knight, a bishop and who knows what else against only a king, and my opponent keeps waiting the full 7 days before moving!!!!!!!!!
I even put it on conditional moves so that it would lead to mate in every possible variation but he still waits the full 7 days
its driving me crazy
Some people need to accept losses and move on
