i have read about live chess this n that, also posted my replies n comments...i decide to share my experiences based on nearly 1000 live games on various sites including chess.com (i played here not too much live chess till now):  1) i feel n think that it is better to play 'speed chess' when playing live, i mean 1 to 3 min. time limit...2) play ur best opening or defence in order to play atleast 10 to 15 moves within few seconds 3) if player doesnt know opening theory, he/she can open the game fast by aiming to control centre, development of minor pieces n castling, in middle game move as per shortsighted tactics or placing the pieces simply on good squares i.e. dont play knight at the rim, dont play bishop hindering by its own pawn (bad bishop)...dont move heavy pieces early in the game etc...4) try to think ahead when ur opponent taking time 5) gain ur confidence initially by playing the opponents who have less strength than u (ratingwise) 6) keep in mind that clock's tick plays major role 7) develop ur sense (in speed chess) to calculate time by avoiding glancing to the clock time n again (especially in bullet chess: 1-min. never look at the clock) 8) watch speed chess played by others 9) u can still win by time if u r down too much in terms of material, so never giveup till the end 10) when lose material dont pause n keep ur pace intact 11) try to understand time gaining moves... 12) try to puzzle ur opponent by tricks like late castling or not to castle or other moves which violate the opening principles ( but to do this u must have some authority on chess theory or ur level must be atleast intermediate-level)...keep in mind that i try to convey my knowledge n experiences, dont intend to instruct/coach i am still learning since chess is hard really hard and an endless ocean .... in last after 'time' the most important thing is ur nerves....i will try to come up with some more tips n tricks...regards to all and goodluck: goodluck is 3rd important thing in speed chess....bye now
