I think you were fine in what you did. You had no intention of throwing your opponent off, instead you were trying to aid them by reminding them about their time when you suspected that they were unaware. You were just trying to prevent them from running out of time and losing the match in a way that is unsatisfactory to most players.
Live Chess .... talking/messages
I used to play chess in another site where you had the possibility of adding time to your opponent's clock, if you wanted to...
I did it many times, because I could feel some of them used to take more time than me to think about the next move and I didn't like the idea of me winning a friendly game of chess on time, just because I could think faster than my opponent...
Maybe it's a good idea for this site as well in the future?
Hi guys,
I read a post on trash talk that made me think of this. I sometimes play 'live' chess here at Chess.com. I like to start my game is a short cordial message like, ..."Hi and good luck." This is sometimes answered and sometimes not. Over the weekend, while playing, one of my opponents was getting in time trouble by taking a lot of time on a sequence of moves. I typed "time" into a message. I think I did this three times. Later in the game he typed the message 'time' back to me. I think I irritated him. It was not my intention to irritate or distract him. I have gotten caught in a 'mind freeze' while playing and my intention was to point out that he was getting himself into time trouble. So, I guess I am asking, ... Is what I did acceptable/correct/okay? or do you think I just should have remained quite.
