I believe the Live Chess system is monitored by an automatic censor system, if memory serves.
If you wrote it, the censor system probably caught it and booted you.

These blocks are usually brief-30 minutes I'd guess.
The terms and service are pretty clear about the use of obescenities, even among players who don't mind it. And yes-it's automatic.
It's funny how so often people use the fact that "we're all adults" to suggest swearing should be allowed, but rarely do you hear someone point out that the fact that we're all adults and should be able to communicate without swearing.
Loomis: Swear words are words too. In a language such as English where there are often many synonyms in a group, each with its own connotations, the swear word, too, has connotations (aside from vulgarity) which sometimes cannot be as effectively communicated through other words. In the context, our OP wished to convey a humorously sardonic contempt of his opponent and friend, for which there is no more effective type of word than the vulgar.
I agree with ivandh. Swear words can be appreciated in their own right - I even have an artsy small dictionary based on the swearing vocabulary of captain Haddock.
I think it is morally dubious to go about upsetting people for no reason, and since swear words can have this very effect I would be against using them while adressing random people, children specifically.
That being said I also often jokingly call my friends swear words, and vice versa. To assert that this is necessarily immature seems over the top. And finally, if it would be deemed (by whatever argument) intrinsically immature, then I would question why maturity should be pursued to such levels of purity..
first you get a warning. then you get muted. then you get kicked. so, it's not like you didn't know :)
if you want to swear at each other, add each other as friends, then you can say what you like.
i was not warned, nor muted. just kicked
Did you swear three times in the same sentence?

Not necescarilly (however u spell that)
not just me:
there's jrcolonial98,GoatnotSheep,shane97,THE_GRIMACE,jaller435718,and many others were all kids in a website meant for adults and u may ask me wat my point is...plz dont swear
I agree that sometimes a swearword is "le mot juste". However, as a teacher I remind my students that constant swearing reveals a lack of verbal resources. I'm delighted to be on a site that takes decent behaviour seriously. I gave up on Yahoo chess because of all the kids who (generally when they were losing) started in with insults and worse. When I'm in a place where swearing is unacceptable, I have no problem abiding by their rules. When I'm with my buds in a bar, anything goes.
Swearing is great, cussing is awesome, Profanity rules. I love to scream and yell and cuss, but I just don't do it on the site-so you shoulden't either- it's not polite to others!
I know there are probably children reading this, so I will try to be as descret as I can.
My opponent was calling me various names during our match, and used the word twat as a substitute for kitty-cat.( you adults know what I mean) I replied by calling him a fag. When did the word fag become a cuss word? I was kicked off live chess for the use of this word.I know my opponent was not warned for the use of his language because his comments came through the chat line, whereas mine did not. The word fag is a British term for "slave" or "drudgery". Whereas my opponent is from the U.K., I merely called him a "Do-Boy" or a "Servant", which in the U.K. is an insult. If Chess.com wants to be an International chess site, I think it should recognize International termanology.
For the record... if you go to Ask.com and type in " define twat", you will get a lot of XXX web sites, with no other definition. Do the same for the word "fag" and it defines it as I stated above.
All jokes aside , I think the Administrator is not only bias, but is unfair. If it is programmed to recognize words as abusive, it should recognize all variations of the key words also, and not just certain words that the programer is offened by.
the $64 question is...why would you send a message that might get caught by the filter, anyway?
Exacly... if you really wanna swear and cuss be wise about it and write stuff so the sever will not understand but your opponet sure will
I find that those of us who love the game of chess, and if you a here you clearly do, are better educated, well mannered, and have a better command of their native language. As such, we don't need to swear. It just shows our ignorance. Chess is a gentlemens game (gentleperson?). We should all strive to keep it that way.
I was not warned or muted, just kicked. How long will I be kicked for ? Does anyone else hate when your playing live chess and your oponent just abandons you when you have him beat ? If I abort he gets points for losing, so I just sit there . Yea I said a bad word so so sorry........Whats the limit on abandond games? I was never kicked for aborting maybe that is just as unsportman like as bad words ????
Dragonleo has been kicked automatically
It would have either been for the use of a word on the auto filter (swearing), or for spamming game chat.
Our system warns first, if that warning is ignored, it then prevents you from chatting for 60 minutes. If after that you swear again it removes you from live chess for 30 minutes.
Some members will spam their game chat when its their opponents turn to move to try and distract them, other times, its just a case of a sensitive auto filter picking up on someone entering text into the game chat too fast over and over.
The auto system will only kick for 30 minutes on first offence it the text it detects is highly offensive or more than one swear word is used in the same sentence.
my opponent and I were having a friendly smack talking session and I was kicked because I accidentally didn't sensor myself when I said that I was still about kick his 'azzz' while I talk 'shiiiid' about it...
sup with the censorship. we are all internet users here right?
but really, moderators...how long am I banned for. sucks cause I was playing a fun set of games with a worthy opponent
