Draws in blitz

I just played a 10/0 minute game in blitz. It was clear after 40 or so moves that the game was a draw. I had like 40 seconds left while the other player had 4 minutes. He basically moved in circles until move 65 or so and I ran out of time and he won.

This always annoys me to no end. I know its fair play in blitz, but it goes against the spirit of the game.

Is there a solution? I don't think I can move faster than 1 second per move... The only thing I can think of is to stop being annoyed and accept the loss...

Yes, there is a simple solution: add your opponent to the list of blocked users. You will always encounter such rude persons, without any trace of fair-play, who will play even a K+R vs. K+R and will not accept a draw. Another possibility is to play always with increment, say 10+5 seconds for each move.

Sorry, manage your time better -- it's just as important an aspect of the game as any.

if I was him I would do the same thing..

a win is a win as long as you dont cheat or kill the opponent lol

he was smart an took advantage of the fact that he played faster than you. thats how blitz works

Thanks for all the responses.  Though I was blowing off steam I'm glad to hear what people think.

I guess what I meant by "spirit of the game" is  I want to replicate the semi-serious way I'd play with a friend. You play for the intersting puzzling positions not for rating points. I should go back to playing with an increment. I'm not sure why more people don't play that way.

Pre-moves until you can legally claim draw with the '50-move rule'
