Diconnects

The subject of disconnects has, no doubt, been brought up before. I have been experiencing such an uncanny number of DC's that I now only play very early in the morning or very late at night and then I still find myself losing to a game due to a DC. I wish the system would at least drop the game, period, as though no one won or lost or even drew the game upon a disconnect. That would be better than the poor lad or lass losing points because he/she was disconnected and their opponent was not. It is a lose lose situation. I might just be whispering sweet nothings to myself in the wind. Does anybody else have this problem or is it like my call name. Am I a lonewolf in this delimma??Tongue out

Try using FireFox.

hey i know its free but i have lost one game i would have won an one a pawn down but ahead on clock in 2 min chess so its hard to get your rating up.From now on if i play here it will be unrated games until i play 10 to 20 games without being bumped off.i think if its done like yahoo chess an sub divide into game rooms which are limited to i think about 125 players per room this could be the solution.when i tryed to report bug it also locked up ha ha on me.i had to do ctrl alt delete to get out.if it would just abort the game thats ok but noone likes to give away points.i know on other servers people disconnect to save lost games however until the bugs are worked out abort should be the result.

Thank you ---I must say "I have the latest version of Firefox it does help indeedy, but it has limitations." I also have the reccommended plug-ins so I am following advice and Chess.com protocol. Funny it is. My rating went up to 1965 on 5 to 7 min. bltz only to plummet clear down to 1725 in a swoop due to them thayr disconnects----simply amazing!

Thanks

3 disconnects in 3 games.  Today they reset the server.  It's the worst it's ever been.

I have never had a dc. Truth is, I haven't played live chess in the last month, but I have a decent # of live games and never experiences any problems. Firefox 3; really know my PC; I severely control what programs have access to internet and for what purpose; I think that is important!

For a while, it seemed that every third game would be disconnected. Things seem to be a lot better now though.

Perhaps it has to do with installing another 2GB of memory?

Two observations:

  1. The quantity of disconnects is proportional to the quality of wireless connection.  Worst appears to be old linksys cable modems.
  2. Google chess has a method for reconnecting.  Has that been tried here?

Since I use Firefos 3.05 I disconected twice: 1 time with a draw as result, and 1 time I actuallt won. But I don't like to win my games this way.
