The app keeps "disconnecting" while playing

I'm starting to hate this app. Sometimes, it will say the I've disconnected from a match even though I'm actively playing said match and there is nothing wrong with my internet connection (Wi-Fi). It say "Reconnecting. Auto-resign in (countdown)" for no reason. I am so upset right now. I could be winning a match and automatically lose it because of this annoying bug. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

When you are in an area with a weak wifi connection, it is hard to maintain a connection.

Same issue. It is nearly unusable. Going to find another app.

This happens on ios app ...Same issue here.... while middle of the game it shows you disconnected and when you come back you have lost precious time on the blitz game...few points 

 

1> I am experiencing this even when i am sitting next to my wifi router so there is definitely not weak signal 

 

2> i can use internet through safari or other app while chess.com app shows i am disconnected so definitely my internet is fine 

 

 

i hope someone fix this

You are the only person whose device is attached to the router? No other applications are running?

Happens to me as well.

 

Honestly, just go use Lichess. It’s completely free and the random disconnect error of the chess.com app have been around for at least a year now.

 

Freaking trash.

i keep losing internet nothing to do with me or my internet chess keeps making me lose of there own app they need to fix it am fed up with this this app .

I just played a game and I just got auto disconnected. for that, it we declared a lost. I'm really upset about it because it is well known, opponents uses app or software to auto disconnect the other person. this has been going on for years and I am surprise no one can fix it. I shouldn't have to be penalize because my opponent decided to auto disconnect the other player. it should be a least a draw. unacceptable. :(

Your client and your opponent's client never directly communicate. All traffic goes through the Live server process and only the moves, updated clocks and chat messages are sent back and forth. So your opponent can't cause you to disconnect.

Your software has flaws and I am a developer. Are you interested in a better and way more robust app/web? I can do it, it doesn't require such a strong connection, it just requires a good algorithm and the right technology. I am so disappointed. This is the only weak point the app has. And it's not weak Wi-Fi or something, I am 100% sure it has happened while my download speeds are near 10Mb/s so it doesn't make sense at all.

I also posted a comment on the same issue. Definitely a chess.com problem. (iPad Pro on WIFI, disconnections when internet is fine).

I am not sure the chess.com is really trying to fix this bug or surrender bug.

I play chess for 1 year in this app and I there are still same problems and to lose points beacuse of these bugs make me so mad!

It's not so hard to fix this in 1 year.

There are so many chess player who use this app and this means you treat us like a fool.

It's not the app it's also on their website. I gave up live chess. I don't care if my connection stinks.. IT DOES but the way around it isn't to auto-resign games of opponents who lose their connectivity. They need to be able to adjourn games not just auto forfeit after some seconds...

I'm having the same problem. It wasn't happening before, but now the game unplayable. I've lost 4000 ELO points because of it.

Also experiencing this and losing tons of time off the clock (often as much as half my time) to weird connection glitches and delays. Definitely not upgrading if this is the status quo.
